Cookbook REVIEW & GIVEAWAY!!!

My Aunt Pam has always been known as the entertainer of the family. She's an excellent cook and knows how to put on a spread! Within the last few years, her and my uncle down sized, sold their house, and now live full time in a motor home. They travel up and down the coast, doing what they love. The challenge of a smaller kitchen didn't stop her from cooking at all. I think it sparked her creativity even more. First she started a blog: From my motor home to yours. On her blog she shares her yummy recipes. Check it out! People have been telling her forever that she should start a cookbook and she FINALLY did!! Whoo-hoo I'm so proud of her!

The thing I love about this cookbook is that all the recipes are very easy to understand and make. There are over 150 recipes and she breaks them up into different chapters. Its loaded with colorful pictures and practical tips. I love how she takes some classics and makes them her own. Very creative! One recipe that is in her cookbook is her chicken wings. Oh my... they're to die for (as she would say...hehe)!

You can purchase her cookbook: From my motor home to yours, for $15.00. But check out this deal... if you leave a comment on this post you can purchase the book for $10.00!!! That's a steal! Just tell her your coming over from Mommy-Momo.

Flirty Aprons Review & Giveaway!

I am known around here for being a very messy cook. When the husband cleans up after my cooking he always makes comments about how I get stuff everywhere. I know it too! I ruin a lot of clothes because of it. Oops. I've always wanted those totally chic and girlie aprons. The amount of time I spend in the kitchen I want to feel pretty. I found the perfect shop!!! These aprons are so cute and super feminine.

When I came across Flirty Aprons and got the chance to pick an apron to review I was so excited! I choose this one:

Ohhh when I opened the package I was immediately smitten over it. I threw it on and instantly LOVED it! Here are some features I love the most about my Flirty Apron:
  • Its one size fits all and super flattering!
  • I feel cute. Enough said right? When I have people over not only do I feel cute in the kitchen, but I won't ruin my nice clothes anymore.
  • This apron's colors are very bright and vibrant. I've washed it a few times and so far no fading.
  • The quality is amazing. The fabric is thick and the apron is made great.
  • The ties are long and very comfortable. This has been one of my issues with other aprons I've tried in the past. The ties never seemed to fit right.
  • Large pockets in the front are very convenient.
  • The apron has so many chic touches to it. The trim has ruffles. The fabric is very modern. They have many selections to choose from. Here are a few:
Every girl would love to have one of these for themselves! Great gift too! Especially because they're one size fits all. Add a cook book and you got yourself a fantastic package anyone would love!!

Totally Talented Tuesday AND Tempt my Tummy!

I thought I'd merge two memes in one. I've been making some delish meals lately that totally tempt my tummy... AND I consider a talent!

Check out Blessed with Grace for more bloggers sharing their recipes and tips!

Check out Two of a kind working on a full house's blog for more talents!

My crock pot has become my new BFF! I've been on a mission to try out different crock pot meals. I usually try about 2 new recipes a week, and some are real keepers! I love the crock pot. Many times at the end of a long day the last thing I want to do is make a home cooked and healthy meal. So I love having one already cooking away. I wasn't a big crock pot fan. I thought the meals turned out pretty bland. But, I've been trying some new things that I never would of thought would be good in the crock pot and was pleasantly surprised. I will share the keepers for any Mommies out there who want to give them a try.  Also, if you have any you want to share... PLEASE do!

This week I tried Chicken Enchiladas and Chicken and Spinach Lasagna with white sauce. I was a bit hesitant on the enchilada's but they were good. Not quite as good as making them from scratch, but WAY easier. They almost tasted like a Mexican casserole type dish. Here's the recipe for the Enchiladas:
  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped green peppers
  • 16 oz can red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 15 oz can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 10 oz can diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded monterey jack cheese
  • 6 flour tortillas
  1. cook turkey, onions, and green peppers in skillet until browned and vegetables are tender. drain.
  2. Add next 8 ingredients and bring to boil. Reduce heat. cover and simmer 10 minutes.
  3. combine cheeses.
  4. in slow cooker, layer about 3/4 cup meat mixture, one tortilla, and about 1/3 cup cheese. repeat layers.
  5. cover. cook on low 5-7 hours or until heated through
  6. To serve, reach to bottom with each spoonful to get all the layer, or carefully invert onto large platter and cut into wedges. Serve with sour cream and/or guacamole!!!
The Chicken and Spinach Lasagna was very easy and yummy! I got this recipe online just click the link. Enjoy!

Chicken Noodle Soup Crock pot style!

Yummy! After a long week I wanted something simple, healthy, and fast for dinner tonight. I love this one pot meal. And even better...in the crock pot. I'm always looking for good crock pot meals.  I like these kind of dinners on Fridays especially when I'm pretty much cooked out. I seriously threw all the ingredients in when "Easy" was taking his nap and the house smells scrumptious!

  • I just bought one of those whole already roasted chickens. I pulled pieces off and threw into the crock pot (told you easy).
  • 1 cup dices carrots (about 3 or 4)
  • 1 cup diced celery (about 3 stalks)
  • 1 cup diced onion (about a half of onion)
  • couple chopped cloves of garlic
  • 4 cans of chicken broth or one of those chicken broth cartons
  • It called for 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup, but all I had was cream of chicken soup. So I tried that. We will see how it turns out?
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 teaspoons of fine herbs. Anything you want really.
  • The last 15 minutes add 2 cups of egg noodles. You can even try already cooked rice. But the noodles help thicken it up.
  • cook on high for 3-4 hours or low about 8 hours.
  • enjoy!
And BTW...I'm in a rut. HELP!  I'm searching for healthy and easy one pot meals lately. If anyone has one they want to share please do...

And I think I want this for Christmas...dutch oven.

Never used one, but I heard they're fantastic for one pot dishes? Opinions?

Homemade Applesauce

So my mom makes this homemade applesauce that my lil' guy loves! Its super yummy. And if you've tried to make homemade applesauce you would know that its simple. I don't know why I wouldnt take the time to make it before? The apple flavor is stronger, and the texture is more chunky and less baby-foody than the store bought version. While it simmers your house will have a scrumptious, warm fragance. Just heavenly. Very fall-ish!

"Easy" being a normal toddler (so I hear) is going through a picky spell...again. I can't get much in him. So yesterday I made a big batch of this applesauce (I tweeked my moms recipe a bit) and it was a hit! Yeah! Makes mommy very happy to see him eat something other than cheese and crackers...jeez. So here is the recipe. Give it a try. My next goal is to try to can a few batches. Haven't gotten there yet.

For every two apples add a pear. I think that's the secret. Adds a special sweetness to it.
  • Peel and core the apples and pears.
  • cut into chunks
  • put into pot with water. Amount depends on the consistancy you want it. Better yet, if you have apple cider add that instead of the water. Just watch it and make sure it doesn't burn.
  • A squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
  • Add cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar to taste.
  • cook until apples and pears are soft
  • mash with a potato masher or put it in the blender.
  • Enjoy!
